Lower Extremity

CT is very useful in the setting of lower extremity trauma, particularly in the evaluation of complex fractures and dislocations. It is often used in preoperative planning and to evaluate fracture healing. CT is sometimes used in the setting of degenerative conditions of the lower extremity, especially if there is concern for an intra-articular body that may be causing joint locking and decreased range of motion. CT can also be useful in the evaluation of a painful joint replacement.
