MRI of the Pelvis
MRI is a powerful tool in the evaluation of pelvic disorders in both men and women. MR angiogram can detect narrowing or blockage in the arteries of the pelvis, known as the iliac arteries. This condition may be responsible for pelvic or buttocks pain, which is often exacerbated by walking, and erectile dysfunction in men. In conjunction with CT angiogram, MRA can be used to detect or follow-up vascular abnormalities in the pelvis following trauma. These include pseudoaneurysms or dissection, which are both related to injury of the arterial wall.
