3D Mammography at Montclair Radiology
Women 40 and above should receive annual mammograms, and many women decide to start at 40 depending on independent risk factors. 3D Mammograms make it easier for your doctor to identify cancer. As a matter of fact, 3D mammography has been shown to detect 40% more invasive cancers and can detect breast cancers 15 months earlier.
Your 3D Mammogram isn't much different than a traditional mammogram. The test may take a couple seconds longer though. Your breast tissue will be pressed between two plates which can be uncomfortable for some patients, particularly those with large breasts. The machine will take images from all angles, allowing your physician to more accurately understand what is going on with the breast structure.
